Does anyone’s toddler cry when going to bed?

Usually when i say “Do u want to go bed” she walks to the gate at the bottom of the stairs and waits for me to open it and she climbs up the stairs straight to her bedroom to her cot and i lift her into her cot and she falls asleep by herself…. but for a week when i say “Do you want to go bed” she shakes her head and say “no” and i have to take her to bed and as soon as i put her in her cot she cries in a tantrum and gets really upset, i usually leave her to cry it out and stroke her face and she goes asleep??? any suggestions why this has started, i thought maybe it was because she had a cold but its gone now and she is still doing this as soon as i put her to bed. she has 1 nap through the day.
Yesterday she missed her nap and fell asleep in my arms at a friends house and when i went home i changed her and put her in her cot and she fell asleep without constant crying!!!!
I dont understand why she has started this??
My daughter is 20months

Could be several things. I agree w/ poster who said tell her it’s time to go to bed, don’t ask her. She just got over a cold and needed you more to fall asleep, which is normal. She may just be adjusting to going back to going sleep w/o your help. It could also be that the amount of sleep she needs has changed. Maybe she’s just not tired as early now. Could also be the time change last week. Believe it or not, that hour can throw some kids off for a few days. If that’s it, she should be adjusted to it very soon.

Develop a routine that is consistent and this will train her body that it’s time to go to sleep with the routine. With my 4 yr. old, the routine is bath, book, snuggles and talking about the day, then a hug and kiss goodnight.
