Scope Rings
are Weaver scope rings and bases good?
all walmarts carry them but are they good for keeping your scope true and secure ?
They work and keep the scope secured well. The only issue I’ve ever had was getting the rings properly tightened with the scope oriented vertically. Tightening the rings tends to rotate the scope a little and so you may have to do some trial & error with it. Also you CAN tighten the screws too much and dent the scope tube. You need it tight but not nearly gorilla tight. I’d suggest using one of the weak (blue maybe?) LocTite thread lockers on all of the screws including the base to rifle ones.
You can use others but unless it’s a very hard use environment everything stays secure with Weaver the same as Redfield, Leupold, Burris and even Badger Ordnance. All screws could work loose over time but a thread locker helps minimize the chance. Even so trying a little wiggle of the scope/mount each time you take it to the range or out into the field will help you catch it before it costs you a missed or worse a poorly wounded trophy.
