Not many things can say that they have played a part in changing the way of American life, but the development of the handheld GPS has done just that. A handheld GPS is a compact navigation system that you can take anywhere with you; it is guaranteed to completely revolutionize the way you travel on the road. One of the best things about the handheld GPS is that there are no monthly charges like there are for services like OnStar. Also, it does not need to access the internet at all so there is no need to stop and find a place that has a wireless internet service. Once you buy a handheld GPS system it is yours forever and you can upgrade your package whenever you like.
Handheld GPS systems use a network of satellites that are already in orbit over the earth to relay information to your GPS system. This will enable to pinpoint your exact location at the time as well as map out how to reach your destination safely. Handheld GPS systems also have a certain amount of internal memory built in to them, so this allows you to store the details from previous trips in case you need to consult them for any reason. Some handheld GPS units also give you information about the weather and traffic of the area you are traveling in to help you decide if you should take an alternate route.
