Hunting Knife Wow
Why in the world would cops wait an entire hour before entering the community center in Birmingham, NY?!?!?

Are you kidding me? What are cops for if they’re not going to enter immediately and ensure the remaining survivors immediate safety?!? Am I missing something here? The guy could have been going around with his hunting knife slitting throats while the cops take a breather outside and make sure it’s safe for THEM. Wow. Maybe someone can help me understand the logic here?
Also, some might reply that police were in contact with survivors in the boiler room so they knew they were safe…what about OTHER people who could have been without cells, getting slaughtered?

OR
The guy could have been sitting in a room full of hostages with two pistols at the ready and/or a bomb waiting until he was ready to contact authorities with his demands.
OR
The guy could have been two or three guys … maybe as many as five (the most that could comfortably fit in one car). Without taking the time to gather intelligence on the situation … how would the police know how many perps they were up against? What kind of weapons should they prepare for … firearms only? bombs? incendiary devices?
Spend time and gather intelligence (building plans, estimates on victim and perp count, etc) then enter with a pretty decent plan that might help save some of the victims … or rush the building and possibly force the perps hand. I think the departments involved did the right thing!
