Starting a job as a sales associate in the fishing department of an outdoor store?

Need tips!

There are 2 major parts of your job when working as a sales assoc in a fishing dept.

Stocking and “selling”.

Stocking is simple and need not be “dramatized”- a monkey could stock a shelf.

“Selling” is tougher.

The most important thing to remember when selling fishing equipment is: DON’T sell product you know nothing about!

In other words, DON’T LIE and tell a customer “such and such lure works great” when you have no actual experience or knowledge of the product.

Return customers are those that had a good experience while fishing. If you sell someone bullsh*t product, eventually they won’t trust your opinion. Ultimately, they will go to another store where the info they get is more reliable……..

Selling the right product is important, but KNOWLEDGE of how to apply those products keep customers coming back….

Bottomline?- If you don’t know anything, don’t SUGGEST anything. Tell the customer, “I don’t know”. And then go find someone who DOES KNOW!
