Developmentally Disabled Services

Is there anything I can do to force my bf to stop taking advantage of our developmentally disabled neighbor?

In addition to being developmentally disabled, our neighbor (a guy) is a chronic alcoholic. His Adult Protective Services caseworker handles his finances, takes him shopping, etc., but she isn’t doing jack squat to stop people from taking advantage of him.

Every time after his caseworker takes him shopping he turns around and sells everything she gets him, including the food, so he can buy beer. Assholes like my bf rip him off by buying the stuff at half price. When I tell my boyfriend what he’s doing is wrong he says, “So what. If I don’t buy it, someone else will.”

I told his caseworker about this on several occasions, but it still keeps happening. She didn’t do squat when I told her I caught my bf stealing from the guy either. All she did was have the building manager change the lock on his door.

Please tell me if there is anything I can do to put a stop to this crap!

No. You cannot change another person’s character. Instead, you should examine yourself and ask what you find attractive about a man who would do that. He sees nothing wrong with taking advantage of others so be prepared for a life of him taking advantage of others, including you.
