Deer Hunting Equipment Used

Best bow for next year?

Since I turned 12 I have hunted with a bow for 5 different season, both for deer and elk. I have always shot fingers without a release aid. Every year I have gotten better but I have always had to make do with old equipment. This year I got frustrated with bow hunting since when I use a rifle I rarely miss and I know shooting fingers with an old bow isn’t helping. With about a $300 – $400 budget for just the bow what is my best bet for a new bow now that I plan on using a release and high quality carbon arrows? What non expanding broadheads are reccomended?

I would suggest that you go to your local archery shop and get a feel for the bows that are available. Sometimes the most expensive bow is not always the best bow, especially that fits you. In the 300-400 range there is a Fred Bear line of high quality bows for people that are more on a budget. I bought a Fred Bear Instinct in 2007 for $400 and it shot very well and I still use it today. Bottom line just get a feel for what is out there and what is most comfortable for you. I also suggest getting a release aid as it will increase your accuracy highly.

I would suggest using Muzzy 3-Blade 100grain broadheads. They are very sharp and they only run about $30 for a set of 4. Hope this helped and Good Hunting!
